Station 3: The Santa Cruz 2030 General Plan
GENERAL PLAN 2030
Recently adopted in 2012, General Plan 2030 provides a vision for Santa Cruz that aims to preserve diversity while creating a satisfying quality of life for both locals and visitors. The planning process included numerous opportunities for public participation through surveys, workshops, festivals, and meetings to ensure that General Plan 2030 is reflective of the community’s desires for its future.
RELATIONSHIP TO THIS PROJECT
The 2030 General Plan provides guidance for the city’s primary mixed-use corridors (Mission, Soquel, Water, Ocean), which were identified as “change areas” served by transit. The ultimate goal for this project is to help implement that vision by producing innovative and integrated corridor planning, crafting a Zoning Code Update that will serve as an effective tool to achieve the vision expressed in the General Plan, and identifying associated transportation system and parking improvements.
